It's easier than ever these days to make music (press some buttons and stand back), but it remains as tricky as ever to make art that has depth and resonance and meaning. Whether it's as a painter and sculptor, or in his Time Attendant guise as a musician, Paul Snowdon walks effortlessly on the wire of creativity, only occasionally extending his arms for balance.

Circus Spiritism is an album alive with invention. It squelches, squeaks, hums, rings, pings, buzzes and bangs. It is synthetic and organic, animal, mineral and vegetable. It needs no backstory, legend or fake concept, and doesn't have to dress up in borrowed or stolen rags to get attention. It's radiophonic without a scintilla of cliché or retrofitting; experimental without being harsh and punishing; electronic without sounding artificial.
